My Freshman Year
During my first semester I was privileged to live in the Honors Living-Learning Community centered around The Meaning of Life. I was in the same Drury Core class as all of the other people who lived in my hall. This was an amazing experience because conversations in class lead to lasting friendships outside of the classroom. Although the class only lasted through the first semester, many of the people in my Core class were also in the First-Year Honors class that all of the people entering the Honors Program were required to take. This class gave us all an opportunity to connect in another sense, that being the comedy theme that the class was centered around. In the course of 2 semesters, we all connected through sharing our deepest beliefs about the meaning of life as well as through performing comedy skits that we wrote together. Although the theme was simple, it taught us to be comfortable taking the risks that we will need to take to be successful.
